Forest Research Institute of Malaysia

Only 30 minutes from Kuala Lumpur City Centre, lies the easily accessible Forest Research Institute of Malaysia. Well known as one of the green lungs in Selangor, it is lovingly called FRIM by locals and foreign tourists alike.

Founded in 1929 as a natural research and conservation reserve, FRIM covers an extensive 1,528 hectares of verdant forest. The many trails meandering through FRIM are designed such that they are ecologically non-invasive, while providing the visitor with a memorable and edifying experience of nature’s wonders.

Immersed in an environment so rich in biodiversity, visitors should take their time during their jungle hikes, to try and spot the various species of flora and fauna that the institute harbours.

With a river and spectacular waterfall nestled at its hearts, FRIM also offers the option of taking a refreshing dip after an enlightening afternoon of hiking along its balmy trails.
