The Merdeka Square
The Merdeka Square or known as Dataran Merdeka is located at the centre of the city centre in kuala lumpur,malaysia. It is nearby to the Gombak River, the Masjid Jamek, Central Market and Chinatown. It is also the core of Kuala Lumpur history.
Here you will find buildings like the Sultan Abdul Samad Building, the Royal Selangor Club, KL City Gallery, National Textile Museum and the National History Museum. Some of them peppered with Moorish Style buildings alsocan be found here. A 100 metre-high flagpole marks the spot where the Malayan Flag was hoisted on August 31, 1957 signifying the independence of the country from British. The square exist for a large part of a grass field called the Padang.

RapidKL LRT - Ampang line: Take the LRT and stop at the Masjid Jamek LRT station. Dataran Merdeka is about 10 minutes walk from the LRT station.
RapidKL Bus: The RapidKL Bus No U4, U7, U13, U14, U209 will stop at Jalan Raja bus stop. Dataran Merdeka is within short walking distance.
